We’re absolutely delighted that Clearwell Castle has already celebrated incredible recognition in 2026, proudly winning the Hitched Wedding Awards, winning Best Castle Venue in The West with For Better For Worse and being named a finalist in the Guides for Brides Awards. 2025 was equally memorable, with the castle announced as a finalist in the Guides for Brides Awards and honoured as Best Castle Wedding Venue in the West by For Better For Worse.
In 2024, we won in the Castle Wedding Venue Category at Hitched Wedding Awards 2024 – thanks to all the amazing reviews & testimonials that our couples gave us in 2023!
Clearwell was also voted ‘Best Castle Wedding Venue’ at the British Wedding Awards 2020, after being shortlisted in this category at both Hitched’s UK Wedding Awards AND the British Wedding Awards in 2019! We were voted ‘Best UK Wedding Venue’ in the British Wedding Awards 2018 by our couples & readers of Wedding Ideas Magazine for the three years in a row.
In addition, we were shortlisted as ‘Best Castle Wedding Venue’ at the UK Wedding Awards 2017, regional winners at the English Wedding Awards 2016, and overall winners of the Wedding Ideas Awards in 2012 and 2010.
The house is absolutely stunning and in keeping with the period. Everything is tastefully decorated and timeless. The grounds are beautiful and incredibly well-maintained; they looked picture-perfect.
The bedrooms are lovely and are in keeping with the style of the rest of the house. We had multiple emails, calls and Zoom calls with Phaedra. She was absolutely incredible, nothing was a problem, and she made me feel very at ease with the whole Process. Phaedra is quite possibly the best human being in the world. So is so very good at her job, and I’m sure she isn’t paid nearly enough. From start to finish, she was incredible.
The grounds made for gorgeous photo opportunities. The honeymoon suite was amazing and incredible to get ready in with my bridesmaids on the day of the wedding.
On the build-up to the wedding, Phaedra was incredible – she was very supportive and helped us with all our enquiries. The wedding breakfast food was amazing and commented on by a number of the guests. The two wines we had for the wedding breakfast were lovely.

We had our wedding at Clearwell Castle on Saturday 10th May, and we honestly cannot praise the venue and team highly enough.
The castle itself is absolutely stunning, set in a breathtaking location with immaculate grounds that made for the perfect backdrop to our special day. From start to finish, the staff were exceptional – nothing was too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make everything seamless. The food was incredible throughout the day, with every detail beautifully presented and full of flavour.
A special mention must go to Ann, our wedding manager on the day. Despite stepping in last minute due to our original wedding manager leaving, Ann was the epitome of professionalism. She was calm, kind, and completely on top of every detail, helping the day run like clockwork. We felt truly looked after and supported. We would also like to do a special thank you to Janine, who took over from Ann in the evening seamlessly, truly helpful and amazing at what she does.

The castle was beautiful, and everything was perfect. From the amazingly tasting cocktails on arrival, the most intimate ceremony, the fabulous table display and stunning dinner.
One of the memories I will cherish is my mother and my children laughing whilst happily playing croquet on the lawn in the afternoon sun.
Being gluten intolerant is always a concern for me when dining. My concerns diminished as the staff knew of my needs even before I had mentioned it to them. I felt so relieved.
I am often excluded from eating the same foods as my family. On this occasion, I was able to enjoy the same two courses. It was then such a surprise to have a gluten-free cheesecake made especially for me. Please do thank the chef, as it really was the most delicious dessert I have ever had. During the evening, the staff had also prepared a gluten-free burger! I was so impressed.
Please thank the staff who were amazing. They were so professional, organised and kind. You all went out of your way to ensure the day went smoothly.
As guests we felt so special in such glorious surroundings. Celebrating Dan and Hannah’s wedding surrounded with the people we hold dear, the day couldn’t have been better.

We had a last-minute change of wedding planner, which was a little stressful at times, but Emma did an amazing job at picking everything up and always came back with a quick answer. Emma was fab! Very attentive and always there when we needed her to guide us on where to be.
