A Real Life Wedding Blog – Rumiana & Philip’s Summer Wedding

Their engagement took place in a Cardiff restaurant which was special to them. Chapel restaurant saw Philip propose to Rumiana on October 27th, 2017. The restaurant hosted their first romantic dinner together along with other dinners in their relationship and thus it was a fitting place for the proposal.

The first step of their wedding planning was to book the venue. Philip and Rumiana booked Clearwell Castle for the 12th August 2018. A fairy tale venue with exclusive use of the Castle – perfect for the couple. A ceremony and reception in the same venue which isn’t weather dependent suited Philip and Rumiana.

‘The venue was amazing!

Exclusivity was key, fairy tale setting, lovely grounds, a lot of indoor space and the village as a whole.’

On the day itself the couple had tables named after castles along with a castle shaped seating plan which they did themselves. Royal blue sashes on the chairs, candles throughout the house and birdcage centrepieces. Blue ribbons tying the napkins and crystals decorating the tables.

The home-made cake tying in perfectly too! The cake design coming from a design they saw on Pintrest.

For the bridal accessories:

‘I went quite light on jewellery as my dress had a lot of sparkle on the top and I did not want it to be too much. I had small pearl earrings with a small butterfly on top of each one. I also wore my engagement ring and eventually the wedding ring as well. I also had a hair piece, which was quite sparkly as well.

I brought my wedding shoes from John Lewis. They were one of the Rainbow shoes, which I later found out that you can dye in whatever colour you want. I wasn’t aware of this prior to choosing them but it was a nice surprise as I can now wear my wedding shoes again with another dress.’

And for the Grooms clothing:

‘Philip was wearing his traditional kilt outfit. His family have a specific tartan and he also asked all of his groomsmen to wear kilts as well. It all fitted very nicely with the surroundings of the castle. Philip looked very smart and I loved all the accessories that also go with the outfit.’

Philip and Rumiana became husband and wife in the Ballroom.

When asked what the highlight of their day was:

‘Being pronounced as husband and wife.’

Later in the day they were back in the Ballroom for their three course wedding breakfast.

For the majority it consisted of:

Crayfish and King Prawn Cocktail

Chicken Saltimbocca

Florida Strawberry Tart

An evening reception took place in The Cellar’s Bar with Clearwell Castle’s House DJ.

The first dance. Ed Sheeran – Perfect.

Newly married Philip and Rumiana took a mini-moon to Portugal for some time to themselves!

‘I wouldn’t change a thing! Everything was perfect and the day went without a hitch’
