Talking trends – animal print accessories

From tiger stripes to leopard spots and zebra monochromes to giraffe geometrics, animal prints have been used to great effect in fashion and design for decades. In the last few years, we’ve seen animal print make an appearance in an increasing number of weddings.

As @MarthaWeddings says, “Bringing a playful pattern into the mix is an easy way to increase the visual interest of your entire space while also customizing your event’s look.”

If you want to have a little fun with your wedding décor but aren’t sure how to incorporate animal print into your big day, take a look at some of our favourite zoological design ideas.

Shoes

Wearing animal print shoes as you make your way up the aisle will add a little fun and personality to your outfit.

Whether you’re wearing a full-length gown or have chosen a dress that shows off your footwear, a playful pair of leopard, tiger, or zebra print heels could be the perfect choice.

As well as ensuring you stand out from the crowd, some stylish animal print shoes will look great in your wedding photos.

Table settings

Your table settings are a great place to show off your wedding theme. Introduce animal print into the setting in a subtle way by investing in tiger, leopard, zebra, or giraffe napkins.

These will look great on your guests’ plates and won’t dominate your table design. Complement your animal print napkins by choosing oversized, jungle-style foliage for your centrepieces.

Wedding stationery

Animal print can also be used to great effect in your wedding stationery. Fun, eye-catching, and bold, animal print invitations, place settings and guest books can help your wedding to really stand out.

Having animal print name cards on your tables will add to the look of your table settings and help to emphasise your zoological theme.

The cake

Turning your wedding cake into an animal print bonanza may well be easier than you think. If you choose a creative baker for your sponge, they should be able to transfer a range of animal print designs onto your icing.

You can either have every tier dressed in its own wild design or select a feature layer to sport your animal-inspired pattern.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to adorn your main cake with leopard spots or zebra stripes, you can have animal print cupcakes on your dessert table for guests to enjoy.

Bridesmaids’ dresses

Animal print can work really well for bridesmaids’ dresses. Ask your bridesmaids to wear full animal print or choose a more neutral design and accessorise it with animal print belts, shoes, wraps, or headwear.

Complement your bridesmaids’ outfits with animal print ties or handkerchiefs for the groomsmen.
