Stephen and Carla married at Clearwell Castle on a beautiful August day, Sunday 18th!
Engaged on Christmas Day 2017 after a surprise present of M&M’s, Stephen later presented Carla with a small present from the under the tree containing a gorgeous Tolkowsky engagement ring. The first steps of planning began when Carla set up a Pinterest board for colour schemes, invitations, hair and make-up.
After viewing Clearwell Castle, the second venue they visited, Stephen and Carla fell in love with both the building and the grounds as well as the staff who just blew them away. They just knew it was the venue for them after visiting on one of our Open Days.
Carla, being a designer, was able to make and personalise her own wedding invitations. From gold foiling and illustration, the invitations made for precious keepsakes.
The day was personalised by making a simple tribute to their loved ones that couldn’t be with them on the day. The guests wedding favours were charity badges chosen from two charities close to their hearts, Alzheimer’s Society and Cancer Research UK.
They met their wedding photographer Dan Houghton at a Wedding Fayre in Taunton. It turned out to be a close family friend of Stephen’s family and they loved the natural style of Dan’s photographs.
Carla’s Maggie Sottero wedding dress came from Allison Jayne Bridal in Bristol – After trying on many dresses, Carla went back to the first dress she tried on – it wasn’t something she would choose for herself but after trying it on, it was love at first sight and she knew it was the one. The Bridesmaids and flower girls wore champagne gold.
The Groomsmen’s suits were from Moss Bros (tailor range) and they decided to mix and match the waistcoats but they all wore champagne ties to match the bridesmaids.
The first dance was a difficult one to decide and the couple didn’t actually decide on the song until a week before the day but danced to ‘Michael Buble – Everything’ as they felt the words were so lovely and it is exactly how we feel about each other.

Carla and Stephen honeymooned on a two-week holiday tour around Itay.
