A magnificent wedding venue in a romantic forest setting

Set in 20 acres of grounds complete with spacious bedrooms, majestic rooms, and views of Gloucestershire, Clearwell Castle is a dream wedding venue for anyone wanting the beauty & comfort of a country house wedding with the magic & grandeur of a castle. Step inside the house and be greeted by roaring log fires, grand reception rooms and two well-stocked bars.

At the top of the stone entrance steps, you enter into the Main Hall of the castle. The roaring log fire at the end of the room ensures a warm welcome for you and your guests. Comfortable sofas make this grand space a pleasant area for guests to relax throughout your day.

The Library, with its substantial armchairs, provides a perfect spot for mature guests to take a quiet 5 minutes. The solid oak hand-carved dining table can be used to display photographs of the happy couple, or for games to keep younger guests amused. The Drawing Room houses the baby grand piano and affords views over the croquet lawn up to the pavilion beyond.

There are two bars within the castle. The Cocktail Bar at ground level is available throughout your day. In the evening, the lower level comes to life with vaulted cellar bar and disco-lit dance floor. The DJ is well-positioned to provide a night of dancefloor fillers and can be given a personalised playlist according to your musical tastes. Also on this level, you will find the Children’s Room, complete with toys and games; and the Quiet Room, with its walls adorned with historical articles that detail what the Castle was like many years ago, a far cry from the welcoming country manor it is today.

The Castle sits in over 20 acres of grounds. Our donkeys, Tigger and Molly, will welcome you by the drive upon arrival, and groundsmen ensure our lawns are perfectly striped. The Bandstand makes for perfect photo opportunities, the lake is a hidden gem and the ‘lime walk’ is an enjoyable stroll – perfect for a moment by yourselves.
