Sex and the City stole our hearts, with its witty dialogue, true-to-life romantic escapades and stylish wardrobe. The fashion choices of the Sex and the City films didn’t disappoint and we especially loved the bold bridesmaid dresses worn by Carrie’s platonic soulmates.
The dresses were dramatic and colourful, but didn’t steal the show from Carrie’s beautiful wedding dress. Samantha wore a bold red gown with cascading ruffles, while Charlotte looked elegant in a black fitted dress, and Miranda wore a bold yet simple blue gown.
2. Bridesmaids
You have to love the bold neon-pink designs of the Bridesmaids gang. Many brides-to-be opt for subtle designs, but this film shows that bold and bright can also look incredible. The unique designs of each of the dresses compliment each of the ladies perfectly. The matching white shoes are also a great touch.
3. 27 Dresses
27 Dresses is a great watch for any serial bridesmaid. The range of quirky dresses worn by Jane is true to the experience of many bridesmaids. This ruffled pink and yellow number is one of the most bold and fun dresses featured in the film.
4. Buffy
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer will remember how the stake-wielding bridesmaids were not best pleased with their ruffles-galore, forest-green bridesmaids dresses. Despite their objections, the vibrant green shade of the gowns and the beautiful silk material have us won over.
5. Friends
Phoebe and Rachel’s bridesmaids dresses for Monica’s wedding were well-fitting and incredibly stylish. The sophisticated floral patterns made the dresses look unique and fashionable.
6. Clueless
Cher and her friends worked many stylish outfits in the hit film Clueless, but her cute bubble-gum pink bridesmaid dress has a special place in our heart. The minidress style and cute choker accessory were two charming features of Cher’s outfit. Dionne and Tai also wore some chic bridesmaid dresses in complementary colours.
7. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
These fabulous blue bridesmaid dresses, styled with retro polka dots, added to the glamour and drama of the hit film My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The halternecks brought a racy twist to the classic bridesmaid ruffles and flowers.
8. When Harry Met Sally
When Harry Met Sally is a rom com classic and Sally’s bridesmaid dress has managed to stay chic and stylish throughout the years. Whether it’s the sophisticated and simple cut of the dress or it’s chic hue, it definitely remains one of the most memorable bridesmaids dresses in film and TV history.
9. Reign
Netflix’s Reign, has one of the most striking wardrobes on television (although, arguably, always accurately reflecting its 19th century setting). The embellished, intricate designs of Mary’s bridesmaids dresses and their unique shade make these gowns absolutely beautiful.
10. My Best Friend’s Wedding
Julia Robert’s iconic bridesmaid dress in the cult film My Best Friend’s Wedding is one of the most striking dresses to grace the screen. The beautiful lilac shade and silk material highlight the sophisticated cut and form-hugging fit of Julianne’s dress.
